Emergency Dentist

Dental emergencies can occur at any moment and are an alarming experience

The team at Chinchilla Dental Practice understand that accidents do happen, and you deserve a professional and reassuring dentist during this challenging time. That’s why we provide emergency dental services to our community when emergencies arise.

When an emergency happens, it’s incredibly important to act quickly as it can be the difference in saving your teeth and getting you out of pain. It’s very important that you don’t just “wait and see what happens”, as this can lead to the problem worsening and becoming much harder to resolve.

What is classed as an emergency?

Dental emergencies include accidents involving your teeth or mouth, toothache, bleeding, infections and swelling such as:

• toothache
• knocked out tooth
• chips, fractures and cracks
• bitten lips or cheeks
• abscesses and swelling
• soft tissue trauma and bleeding
• jaw pain

What to do if your tooth is knocked out?

If your tooth is knocked out, it is important that you see a dental professional as soon as possible. This could mean the difference between saving your tooth and losing your natural tooth forever. Pick your tooth up by the crown (not the root) and gently rinse in water or milk. The tooth should then be transported in the cheek of the patient, or alternatively in a glass of milk with the patient to the dentist.
