Corinne is our most senior dental assistant and is our Clinical Coordinator having started at CDP in December 2008. She is a born and bred Chinchilla local. She is married to Jay and they have three lovely kids named Chase, Hudson and Alexis. Corinne enjoys keeping busy at work and finds laboratory work rewarding. She loves being part of the “amazing CDP family”. She is a very efficient, friendly and caring dental assistant with an extensive knowledge of dentistry and of our business here at CDP. She holds a Certificate III Dental Assistant qualification. She is also our dental supply orders co-ordinator. She has also trained staff, works hard on juggling our rosters and you have probably spoken to her on the phone at front office. What an all-rounder!
Jennay Obst has been a Dental Assistant at CDP since May 2012. She grew up in Wandoan with an older brother and younger sister. During Senior she stayed at the Student Hostel in Chinchilla and then moved to Chinchilla not long after graduating. Since purchasing her own home a few years ago, gardening and redecorating have become weekend interests. Spending time with her pets is a must every weekend. Jennay married Todd in 2017 and they are expecting a baby in 2018. So exciting!
Jennay is fully qualified holding both her Certificate III and IV in Dental Assisting (radiography). She enjoys the fast pace of assisting and helping the more nervous patients to complete their treatment plans and build their confidence when coming to the dentist. Some of the best aspects of working at CDP in Jennay’s view are how well everyone works as a team and the lovely events and activities we participate in outside of work as a group. We appreciate Jennay’s cheeky sense of humour and the great quality she has of being able to help someone relax and have a laugh. You may have also spoken to Jennay on the phone as she also assists with front office duties. Another talent is being able to “fix stuff” when equipment needs maintenance, this is why she heads up our Maintenance Committee. She also heads up our vital Infection Control Committee.
Kelsi Mitchell has been a dental assistant with us since October 2013. She was born in Dalby and moved to Bourke NSW at 3 years of age. She really loved growing up in “the sticks” and had “the best childhood”. She moved to Chinchilla in 2005. She was raised in a Christian family which she feels is “the best thing she could have asked for in her life”. She loves catching up with mates and having fun. She is a leader at the ‘Chinchilla Combined Churches Youth Group’ every Friday night and goes to church every Sunday. She also loves spending time with her husband Shaun.
At work Kelsi really loves lab work. As far as the assisting side of dentistry, she enjoys the variety and because every situation is different so it doesn’t get boring. She is fully qualified, having graduated with her Certificate III in Dental Assisting. Kelsi is currently part time and working both in reception taking your calls and also as a Dental Assistant. She says there’s always something to do here! What she enjoys about CDP is the family feel you get here. She enjoys meeting lots of different people and likes that CDP supports community events. She finds it is such as warm and welcoming place to everyone that walks in. The people she works with are “up for a laugh and so nice”. You couldn’t meet a kinder and gentler soul and she her reliability is one of her best qualities.
Ella started at CDP in November 2015 after graduating from Chinchilla State High School. Ella was brought up on a farm near Brigalow with her 3 older brothers. Ella enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, sports and adventure activities. Ella enjoys working with the public and helping people and finds her work as a DA challenging and rewarding.
Linda started back at CDP in January 2017 and was originally a DA here a few years ago. Linda was born and bred in Chinchilla and grew up on a farm. She has lived in various places up the Queensland Coast.
She likes to visit the coast often and strives to play sport and have a healthy lifestyle.
The aspects of dental assisting she enjoys are providing great customer service and helping break down the “Dentists are scary” wall with patients young and old. She likes the fact the CDP is one big team and there is nothing better than working in a fun and productive atmosphere. We warmly welcome Linda back to the team!
Nikiha started back at CDP in April 2018, her second stint after working with us from 2009 to 2011. She was born and raised in Chinchilla, married a local boy Matt and they have 2 gorgeous kids. Nikiha and Matt have a welding business in town, coach their son’s U6 Rugby League team and help out with the family melon farm. With a great balance of work and play, she enjoys lots of social time with family and friends.
Nikiha loves the fast paced professional rewarding work that dentistry provides. No treatment is ever the same and having that challenge is wonderful! She loves that our staff are like one big family. Everyone works well together to provide the best results possible for each patient. She is loving being part of the CDP family. AGAIN! (and we love it too!)
Addie is a fresh Dental Assistant having joined us in 2018. Addie is also a farm kid (they make great DAs we have found!). Addie loves a diverse range of activities – cattle work, horse riding, reading, being social, gym and now Dental Assisting. She enjoys the hands-on nature of dental assisting and the busy days and constant activities.
Addie likes the family orientated feel of CDP and how everyone gets along and develops friendships. She likes the fact we meet each Thursday to see how everything in the Practice is going and keep the lines of communication open.
Tayla is a also a new Dental Assistant who start in January 2018. She was born in Chinchilla and lived here for 13 years. She moved around a little bit though, living on a farm for 3 years in Taroom, 2 years in Toowoomba, 6 months in Dalby and 6 months in Gorokan (Central Coast NSW) but always came back here. She comes from a large family (3 sisters and a brother) and is very family orientated (family comes first).
She really enjoy going out camping, shooting and fishing. She currently helps her dad with his firewood cutting on a weekend when she can but seh’s always keen to chill out on my family’s farm camping and hunting. She also enjoy going to the gym and attending social events in Chinchilla (the Show, the rodeos, camp drafts, Melon Fest). She enjoys study and is currently completing a Cert 3 in Business Administration (Medical) and will soon start a Cert 3 in Dental Assisting.
Tayla enjoys the fast pace of being a DA. You never have nothing to do. It’s great! She loves how every day is different and not the same. She also loves learning about and improving customer service and gaining more confidence in her skills with each and every patient.
Tayla loves coming to work every day and seeing everyone happy to be at work. Everyone makes it some a “homey kind of place” they all treat you like family and welcome you with open arms. Now that’s fantastic!
We were fortunate enough that our previous DA Kath was able to return to CDP in a part time capacity. Kath was born and bred in Chinchilla and is married to Dean and they have a 2.5 year old daughter. Kath has full life where spare time is rare as she runs a local fitness business, but time can always be made for coffee catch ups with friends. Most weekends are spent catching up on quality time with her daughter and visiting family. As a family, at the start of each year they create a “bucket list” of places and events they would like to try as a family and they enjoy travelling and exploring different places and having new experiences. in 2018, this consisted of taking their daughter to Australia Zoo for the first time and travelling up north to Airlie Beach for a Tfamily holiday.
Dental assisting is something that Kath says she will always love. Chair side assisting is certainly the reason why she loves being a dental assistant so much. Helping the Dentist to provide the best outcome possible for each patient is very rewarding and it helps to keep the mind active with all the fast paced movements and thinking on the spot.
As someone who has come and gone over the last 6 years at Chinchilla Dental Practice, Kath has seen changes with policies and procedures, but it’s been a lot easier to adapt to those changes with the support and guidance of the senior DA’s at the practice. She feels very privileged to be able to come back and work with such an amazing group of people.
Tania is a new addition to our DA team in 2018. Tania holds her Cert III in Dental Assisting having been through a Traineeship Program in Toowoomba. Tania was born literally on a farm in Westmar (no ambulance assistance!). Her family moved around a lot from Westmar to Goondiwindi to Ingelwood and many other towns. She has a large mixed family with 7 brothers and 3 sisters.
Tania loves horse riding, gardening and outdoors time especially with her 3 year old step-son. Tania would love to own her own farm one day so her future kids can grow up horse riding and motor bike riding without constant ‘screens’.
Tania is loving the people she works with as they are very friendly. She loves helping our patients who are in pain to be relieved and comfortable and getting to know our patients.
She finds that CDP is a great workplace because she enjoys the big smiles from her co-workers walking through the door and friendly greetings. She finds there is no judgement and her colleagues can have a laugh with her. She is finding this workplace is positively reinforcing her decision to move away so far from her family.
